Without knowing, scientists have applied natural intelligence to natural language at least 200 years ago, by describing the following reasoning construction through Predicate Logic (algebra), which is later implemented through Controlled Natural Language (CNL) reasoners:

> Given: “John is a father.”
> Given: “Every father is a man.”
•
• Logical conclusion:
< “John is a man.”

However, the same conclusion – but in the past tense form – is not described in any scientific paper, because scientists "forgot" to define algebra for past tense:

> Given: “John was a father.”
> Given: “Every father is a man.”
•
• Logical conclusion:
< “John was a man.”

I have defined intelligence in a natural way. And I defy anyone to beat the simplest results of my natural language reasoner in a generic way (=through algorithms), from natural language, to natural language: http://mafait.org/challenge/.Menno Mafaithttps://nl.linkedin.com/in/mennomafaitnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6748877443699290050.post-28553039886203926582017-01-05T11:50:10.445-08:002017-01-05T11:50:10.445-08:00As long as scientists fail to define intelligence ... As long as scientists fail to define intelligence in a natural way, they don't understand the logic of language. You wrote "My rough estimation tells me that this means that the traditional translation industry does about 0.016% of the total words translated every day or that computers do ~99.84% of all language translation done today". My question is, do you have any idea how would be those percentages (rough) if we only consider the translation actually paid (i.e. not considering the Google and similar free MT)? Particularly poignant is the concept of "multiple agencies [collaborating and sharing] MT and PEMT experience data [so we can] get to a point where the numbers are much more meaningful and consistent across agencies." It certainly is possible to aggregate data across corporate boundaries, and having a more complete picture of MT and PEMT performance would benefit the entire industry.Adam Youngfieldnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6748877443699290050.post-6349168597944421502016-12-29T22:15:12.909-08:002016-12-29T22:15:12.909-08:00Nice article.
